Did you know skipping breakfast can actually cause you to gain weight rather than lose it? It’s true! Because you fasted all night, your blood sugar is low. Skipping breakfast causes your blood sugar to drop lower. This lowers your metabolism. Your energy levels drop. By the time lunch time comes around, you’re famished so you end up eating more. You snack more throughout the day. Calories add up and before you know it you’ve gained some more weight.

My son was a breakfast skipper. He was trying to lose weight but the weight wouldn’t budge. He was doing cardio but that wasn’t helping. He was slowly gaining weight and it wasn’t muscle weight! We talked about the importance of breakfast and he actually listened to me and started his mornings with 2 eggs, one slice of bacon (I don’t believe in depriving yourself from you favorite foods…just eat them in moderation), fruit and yogurt and a slice of toast. About a month later he says, ” Mom, you’re not going to believe this but I lost 8lbs without even trying.” This is after he started eating breakfast. To date, he is down 25 pounds!
So, don’t skip meals especially breakfast! It’s the most important meal of the day! Try it for a month! You’ll not only start to drop inches, but you’re going to feel more energized throughout the day.
