Health and Fitness Challenge
The 4 Week Health and Fitness Challenge is all about slowly adding healthy habits into your day. When you try to make too many changes at once, it becomes overwhelming and hard to stick to. Set small, attainable goals and slowly work your way toward your goals.
This is not a race so there’s no need to rush it. Rushing could not only be detrimental to your health but could cause burn out-resulting in quitting before reaching the finish line. Enjoy the journey and before you know it, you will reach your health and fitness goals.
Last week, the goal was to drink more water. Week 1 is over but that doesn’t mean you should forget about reaching your water intake goals. Stick with it and crush those water intake goals! Make drinking water a lifelong habit! Skip the sugary drinks and grab a glass of ice cold water. Your body will thank you for it and you’ll feel so much better.
Week 2: Exercise for at least 20 minutes
This weeks Health and Fitness Challenge is to include at least 20 minutes of exercise into your day. The goal is to move for at least 20 minutes AND have fun with it.
Do something that you enjoy doing, not something that you feel you should be doing. It doesn’t have to be anything intense. You don’t have to do high impact moves or workout so hard that you’re out of breath and drenched in sweat. It could be a walk, strength training, yoga, or aerobic exercise-all of which can be done at home or at the gym. Dancing is exercise so turn on the radio, and dance away! Enjoy working in the garden? Gardening is considered exercise. Or maybe you prefer long, slow jogs or a fast run? It’s your workout so choose what you like doing-not what people tell you what you should do.
If you need workout ideas, check out my fitness channel on Youtube. Workouts are 30 minutes or less and there’s something for everybody!
The best gift we can give our children is the gift of health and fitness. Get the kids involved in the challenge. You’ll get your workout in, and the kids will get theirs. The best part is that you will have spent special, quality time together creating wonderful memories and doing something that is good for everybody. Plus, time spent together is priceless. If you have older children who don’t like to exercise, then check out my list of, “20 Ways to Sneak in Exercise With Your Kids.”

There are so many reasons I exercise but the number one reason I exercise is so I can have the power and strength to keep up with my 3 year old. I may be 41 but I can still run, jump, roll, twist and spend hours playing with him. These are things I would have not be able to do without a strong body.
